Jean co-ordinates the Pastoral Care Team and the homegroups at St Nicholas, sharing in the visiting and prayer ministry; she also serves as a volunteer advice worker at Refugee Network Sutton.

Mary Meldrum

Southwark Pastoral Auxiliary (SPA)
As part of the Pastoral Car Team at St Nicholas, Mary visits and helps elderly, sick or housebound folk, including home communions, and shares in the prayer ministry. She is also a Lay Chaplain with the St Helier Hospital Chaplaincy Team.

As well as pastoral visiting, home communications and prayer ministry for St Nicholas, Lillian serves as a volunteer at Welcare's Family Contact Centre and also with the Spires Centre for homeless and disadvantaged people.

Audrey Hanham

Audrey visits and helps many Christ Church people who are elderly or housebound and assists the clergy with services in local residential homes, with baptisms and following up the families afterwards.

Sheila Collis

Sheila chairs the Pastoral Team at Christ Church and is involved in the prayer ministry; she sees her work at Sutton Council (currently at the help point) as also part of her ministry and is always looking for ways the church can become more involved in the community.

Rev Peter Collins

Peter retired in 1999 from parish ministry, moving with his wife to their home in Mulgrave Road. His whole ministry was spent in the Diocese of Chelmsford and Portsmouth. Peter has an active retirement and at times has been involved in about 10 of the parishes in the deanery. In particular, the two churches in Wallington, but their home base is Christ Church.

Peter and Joyce have three children, all of whom are married with their own families. One daughter and one son live in Canada and their youngest son lives near Cambridge. Peter says he is one of the "old boys" and will step down a bit over the coming months but will continue to have a role at Christ Church, but with freedom to go elsewhere if invited.

Rev Cannon Martin Goodlad

Martin was ordained priest in 1967. He was Vicar of St Andrew, Coulsdon before retirement in 2005. Martin is a School, Governor of Woodcote High School and Sports College, he is a member of Rotary and is interested in genealogy and travel. Martin has been married to Mary for 45 years and has three daughters and ten grand-children. Martin has just started painting after 53 years.

Nigel Bennett

Nigel joined Christ Church when he moved to Sutton in 1986, having completed a teacher training degree in Business Studies and Youth and Community Studies. He has taught for 13 years during which time he has complained bitterly about school funding and bureaucracy; in 1999, he left teaching to be in charge of school funding and administration! Currently, he is bursar at Archbishop Tenison's CE High School in Croydon.

He completed his Reader training in July 2005. He sees himself more as a teacher than a preacher; moreover, he enjoys planning services and being involved with pastoral work. Nigel believes that homegroups play a crucial role in developing discipleship, so don't be surprised if he tries to get you to join one!

Rev Sarah Sewell

Sarah was ordained deacon in 1991 and priest in 1994. She was firstly a nursery nurse working on a Special Care Baby Unit and then a Police Officer for seven years in the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary. She trained for ministry at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford and served her curacy at St Bartholomew's Binley, Coventry. During training and curacy she had 4 major back operations and this gave her an insight into what the spiritual needs of patients might be and a calling to hospital chaplaincy emerged. She has worked as a chaplain at Derriford Hospital Plymouth, Stoke Mandeville Hospital, The Royal Marsden and most recently Chaplaincy Team Leader at Epsom and St Helier Hospital Trust.

She has worshipped and been a member of the clergy team at St Nicholas for the past six years and enjoys the breadth that being involved in a parish brings to her ministry and life.

Non-stipendiary Minister (NSM)
Tim and his family moved to Christ Church in October 2006 as an Honorary Curate to help with the interregnum. He and Liz have become very much part of the worshipping community there and are looking forward to developments with the appointment of Mark Pullinger and as part of the wider Sutton Team. Tim has an extensive experience with child protection and the criminal justice system and has recently taken up a full-time resettlement chaplaincy post at Wandsworth Prison.

Team Vicar
Mark will join the team as Team Vicar when he is licensed on 22nd March 2007. Mark was ordained deacon in 2003 and priest in 2004. Mark brings with him exceptional skills and experience in music, worship, liturgy, and teaching and is a strong addition to the team.
Although living at the Vicarage of Christ Church, Mark will have responsibilities across the team. Mark is married to Linda, who has the demanding 24 hour responsibility of heading up a community midwifery team in East Dulwich. They have two grown up children.

Rev Sarah Mullally

Team Rector
Sarah and her family and their chocolate labrador moved to Sutton in August 2006 and see was installed as Team Rector in the September. Sarah has experience of building new teams in the health service and the civil service. Most recently she was the government's Chief Nursing Officer which she left in 2004. She was ordained in 2001 as deacon and priest in 2002 serving as a curate in Battersea Fields.
